Equipment having electrical and electronic components

Product : Equipment having electrical and electronic components

IS Standard : LIW2

EPR Authorization for equipment having electrical and electronic components is a regulatory requirement in India that aims to ensure the environmentally sound management of e-waste. The EPR framework requires producers and importers of EEE to take responsibility for the collection, recycling, and disposal of e-waste generated by their products.

To obtain EPR authorization, producers and importers must submit an application to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). The application must include information on the following:

  • The name and address of the producer or importer
  • The type and model of the EEE products
  • The quantity of EEE products that will be produced or imported each year
  • The plan for managing e-waste generated by the EEE products

The CPCB will review the application and may require additional information or documentation. If the application is approved, the CPCB will issue an EPR certificate.

The EPR certificate is valid for a period of five years. After five years, the producer or importer must renew the certificate by submitting a new application to the CPCB.

The EPR requirements are designed to ensure that e-waste is managed in an environmentally sound manner. By requiring producers and importers to take responsibility for e-waste, EPR helps to reduce the environmental impact of these products.
